For Jeff . . .

Hi friends.

I want to start out 2013 doing some good. This post has, truly, been almost nine years in the making. Almost nine years ago one of my best childhood friends, Debbie, lost her brother to suicide. He was a Marine who served in The Iraq War. His name was Jeff Lucey. Please take some time to read about him here.

Since his death, Jeff’s family has worked tirelessly to protect the rights of veterans. They’ve spoken out on local and national news outlets regarding the mental health of soldiers. And, I want to help. Why?  I read Just Remember to Breathe by Charles Sheehan-Miles. I was reminded that some sounds don’t go away, but there’s always something you can do to help.

So, I contacted Debbie and asked her and her family to give me the name of an organization I could make a donation to in Jeff’s memory. They chose Veterans for Peace, Chapter 041 in Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

25{43d0d1614ecc8ec385b3ea9940a88627e26eaf9be88a0641399e0be0c80ef276} of my proceeds from January for “Ten Days of Perfect” will go directly to this chapter. Please consider sharing this blog on your facebook pages, twitter pages, and your own blogs. If you’ve already purchased the book, consider gifting it to someone who hasn’t as a means of donation. For Jeff. For someone you know. But, more importantly, for those you don’t know. Those who need your help. Those who need a voice.

You are amazing. My cousin committed suicide January 29, 2012. He was also a vet and was fighting many demons that we will never understand. Thank you from all us suicide survivors

Hey Andrea, I think this is great. I know The Lucy’s will appreciate this. They are a wonderful family whom I have been lucky enough to personally know for almost 20 years. They are some of the strongest, sweetest, and loving people I know… They have never stopped in keeping Jeff’s memory alive…. He will always be in our hearts, and never forgotten.
